Diary written by the wife of the captain of the sailing ship Pilot on a voyage from England to Australia carrying convicts. She describes the voyage; behaviour of convicts, who planned to take over the ship; fish seen; the ceremony when crossing the equator; arriving in Rio; arriving in Sydney where they stay for some time in a rented house ; they then take some convicts to Tasmania and then back to Sydney; she describes Sydney and the natives; they sailed for Batavia with horses, most of which died; to Cherubin, which she decribes, along with an enchanting castle she visits; back to Batavia, then to Isle de France; the ship is leaking so they rent a house; they go to the races and then get a cargo for London, which pleases her; then to St. Helena where Buonaparte is prisoner, and she describes his level of confinement; then leave for England, passing Ascension Island and cross the line again, with Neptune ceremony once more; arrive home after nearly 2 years, and she is happy., N.B. : The diary does not cover the part of the voyage when the vessel travelled to India
